Hello and welcome to my website.  I am professional cognitive behavioural therapist, clinical hypnotherapist and coach based in SW London covering areas including Wandsworth, Barnes, Putney, Kingston, Balham and Southfields as well as London wide. I have both a general practice helping people who are experiencing emotional difficulties such as stress, anxiety and depression as well as a special interest working in the area of fertility  / infertility / IVF / pregnancy and birth problems.

Help with Emotional Problems

I work with people who are experiencing emotional  and behavioural difficulties such as depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, phobia, trauma, low self esteem/confidence as well as those who are experiencing work and relationship problems or  adjusting to circumstances life has thrown at them such as living with illness or addressing infertility/childlessness. Photo of Caroline Spencer

I help my clients to assess their current situation and their feelings about it and understand the impact their current thinking patterns are having on their feelings and behaviours. I help my clients to determine how to make changes that enable them to feel better and more in control again so they can move forward.

For some clients it is about working out what they want, how to get it and to have the confidence to make positive and sometimes major changes where necessary.  For others, it is about beginning to adjust to a new and difficult situation.

Clients also come to see me when they feel stuck and are unsure of their future direction and when they know what they want but can’t seem to make it happen.

Most people I work with have a sense that how they feel is impacting on their ability to live life the way they want to and are looking to find a way to change this.

Special Interest in Fertility, Family Choices and Adjustment to Parenthood

n addition to my general practice, I have an interest in fertility and family choices, working with those undergoing fertility/infertility treatment such as IVF treatment and addressing women's health issues that can somtimes follow childbirth. Undergoing IVF treatment is extemely stressful and I use CBT combined with hypnotherapy which provides a potent combination of cognitive and hypnotic techniques to help women cope with the emotional rollercoaster that often accompanies these situations.  Please see the pages on this subject for more details.

Having said that, I do work with both men and women in my practice generally.

I work with each of my clients to accurately assess precisely how their specific problems are affecting them and then determine an appropriate treatment path to help them feel better as quickly as possible. I use a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), coaching and, where appropriate, hypnotherapy and hypnosis to help my clients feel better and reach their treament goals.

Clients' Perspective

You were an absolute life-saver. Thank you!

I am better than I could possibly have imagined. Thank you for your patience and guidance.

Kerry, London

Huge thankyou for all your help. Your sessions really put my head on a much better track and enabled me to get through our third IVF round and the first few months of pregnancy. You were a godsend!

Katrina, London

By helping me to recognise and understand my deeper passions, values and purpose, they enabled me to know what I truly want in my life and why I want it, and thus to project myself, with full heart, towards it.  I also came to understand and reject what I do not want. It was surprising how much of this information was new to me.

Caroline's gentle guidance, uncanny insight and infectious enthusiasm were ever present.  I owe her massive thanks"
